Matthew H. Ward is a historian, journalist, U.S. Army civil servant and U.S. Air Force Reserve officer who is the author of numerous published articles in print and online media sources. He is a native of Matawan, New Jersey, who currently lives outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with his wife Sarah and daughter Kiera. He holds a B.A. in History and Culture from Arizona State University and an M.A. in History from Rutgers University-Camden. Ward served over 15 years as an officer in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve. He was deployed from 2010 to 2011 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom/Operation New Dawn. He has been a member of American Legion Matawan Post 176 since 2015. As a member of Post 176, he has served as Post Commander, Post Historian, and Coordinator for Educational Activities. He is the recipient of the 2020 American Legion Department of New Jersey Journalism Award.
